Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 18 and 65 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with cirrhosis (scarring of the liver), confirmed by a tissue sample or by blood tests and an ultrasound scan
- People whose heart scans show a specific type of heart function problem (where the heart muscle is stiff or relaxes poorly, but still pumps with normal strength) detected on a specialised ultrasound of the heart

- People who have had a urinary tract or genital infection in the past 3 months
- People who have been taking a statin medication (a type of cholesterol-lowering drug) within the month before the study
- People with severe liver cirrhosis, based on a scoring system that measures how serious the liver disease is (confirm with trial site)
- People who have coronary artery disease (blocked or narrowed arteries supplying the heart)
- People who have certain heart rhythm or electrical problems, including sick sinus syndrome, a pacemaker, heart valve disease, or a heart rhythm disorder
- People who developed heart weakness related to pregnancy or childbirth
- People who have high blood pressure in the lung vessels connected to the liver, or a condition where the liver affects oxygen levels in the blood
- People who have had a procedure to place a special internal tube to redirect blood flow in the liver (called a TIPS procedure)
- People who have liver cancer
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who are living with HIV or who are on antiviral therapy for a retroviral condition
- People with low red blood cell levels (anaemia) — below a certain level depending on sex (confirm exact thresholds with trial site)
- People who have had a serious bleeding episode from swollen veins in the food pipe or stomach in the past 6 months
