Who may be able to join

  • Women who are pregnant with one baby (not twins or more).
  • People who have had exactly one previous caesarean birth, where the cut on the uterus was made horizontally at the lower part.
  • People whose doctor has assessed them as suitable for attempting a vaginal birth after their previous caesarean, in line with Israeli national medical guidelines.
  • People aged 18 years or older.
  • People who speak Hebrew.
  • People who are able and willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who have a medical or pregnancy-related condition that makes vaginal birth unsafe, such as placenta previa (where the placenta is positioned too low in the uterus) or a borderline case of this condition.
  • People who have had any other uterine surgery — beyond the one previous low horizontal caesarean — that would prevent a vaginal birth.
  • People who have had two or more previous caesarean deliveries.
  • People whose baby is not positioned head-down, or is in any position that makes attempting a vaginal birth unsuitable.
  • People who are pregnant with more than one baby (such as twins or triplets).
  • People who have been diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder or another significant mental health condition that may affect their ability to take part in the study or complete the required questionnaires.
