Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 years or older
- People who are scheduled for a medium or large planned (non-emergency) surgery at HUGV hospital
- People who are awake, alert, and able to understand and answer questionnaires and use wearable devices during the study
- People who have a basic level of comfort using wearable technology devices
- People who have read and signed an Informed Consent Form agreeing to take part in the research voluntarily
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have tattoos or any skin condition (such as vitiligo, lupus, or atopic dermatitis) on the wrist or finger area where the wearable sensors would be worn
- People who have any known sensitivity or allergic reaction to the materials used in the wearable devices (a smartwatch and a smart ring)
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have an implanted heart device, such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, or cardiac resynchronisation device
- People who are currently using illicit drugs
- People with serious or unstable medical conditions present before surgery
- People who pass away before leaving the hospital
- People whose recovery after surgery is expected to require more than 10 days in hospital
