Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a condition where the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick.
- People who are 18 years of age or older at the time of the screening visit.
- People whose heart is pumping at a normal or near-normal strength, as measured by a heart scan showing a result of 50% or higher.
- People whose heart scan shows a significant blockage of blood flow out of the heart (either at rest or when provoked), measured at 30 mmHg or above.
- People whose heart condition causes mild to moderate limitations on physical activity, classified as NYHA Functional Class II or III (confirm with trial site).
- People who are able to complete a supervised exercise breathing test (called a CPET).
- People taking certain heart medications (beta-blockers or non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers) who have been on a stable dose for at least 6 weeks before joining the trial, and who are expected to stay on the same dose throughout.
- People who have previously taken a type of heart medication called a cardiac myosin inhibitor (such as Mavacamten) must have stopped taking it at least 8 weeks before joining the trial.
- People who are willing and able to sign a consent form and attend all required study visits.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had a serious allergic reaction to any ingredient in Ademetionine 1,4-Butanedisulfonate Enteric-coated Tablets (the study medication).
- People with a history of psychiatric disorders, or who are currently taking certain antidepressant medications such as clomipramine.
- People who have a surgical procedure or heart procedure (including septal reduction therapy, a procedure to reduce heart muscle thickness) planned during the trial period.
- People who are planned to start taking a cardiac myosin inhibitor medication (such as Mavacamten) during the trial period.
- People who are currently pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the trial.
- People who are currently taking part in another clinical trial involving a drug or medical device.
- People who have another illness where life expectancy is estimated to be less than one year.
