Who may be able to join
- People who have been diagnosed with breast cancer (on one side only, at stages I to III, not the inflammatory type) and have had either breast-conserving surgery or a full mastectomy, and have received or are planned to receive standard follow-up treatments as recommended by current guidelines.
- People who are scheduled to receive a specific type of radiation therapy after surgery, using a shortened course of treatment (40–50 Gy given over 15 sessions), as recommended by established breast cancer treatment guidelines.
- People whose condition matches a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis involving a specific pattern described as "Qi-Yin Deficiency with Blood Stasis and Toxin Accumulation" (confirm with trial site on how this is assessed).
- People with a general health and functioning score of 70 or above on a standard scale called the Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS), which measures how well a person can carry out daily activities.
- Women aged 18 years or older.
- People who are willing to take part in the study and have signed a written consent form.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who have a very severe skin reaction to radiation (classified as grade 4 radiation dermatitis) that requires urgent treatment at the time of joining or during the study.
- People who have had radiation therapy to the breast or chest area within the past 3 months.
- People who have an existing skin condition that could make it difficult to assess radiation-related skin reactions — this includes active skin infections, eczema (atopic dermatitis), psoriasis, vitiligo, active connective tissue diseases such as scleroderma or lupus, or other known autoimmune conditions that noticeably affect the skin.
- People who already have moderate or severe liver, kidney, or blood-related problems before treatment begins, as measured by a standard medical grading system (CTCAE v5.0, grade 2 or higher).
- People who are already taking part in another clinical trial or are currently using other Chinese herbal medicine preparations.
- People with an unstable mental health condition or who would have difficulty following the study procedures.
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- People who have a known allergy to any ingredient in the herbal formula being used in this study.
