Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 years or older.
- People who are able to verbally show they understand the risks, benefits, and treatment options involved, and who (or whose legal representative) are willing to sign a written consent form before the trial begins.
- People who have had an acute heart attack of a specific type (called STEMI) within the past 7 days, confirmed by a combination of chest pain symptoms lasting more than 10–20 minutes, a blood test showing elevated heart damage markers, and specific changes seen on a heart tracing (ECG).
- People whose heart ultrasound (echocardiogram) shows that part of the heart wall is not moving properly.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who need to take fexofenadine hydrochloride or similar allergy-blocking medicines (called H1 receptor inhibitors) on an ongoing, long-term basis.
- People who have previously had open-heart bypass surgery (CABG).
- People with a history of severely reduced kidney function (eGFR below 30 ml/min).
- People with a history of severe liver problems.
- People with a history of a serious active infection, a blockage in the liver or bile ducts, or a cancer diagnosis.
- People whose life expectancy is estimated to be less than 2 years due to a non-heart-related illness.
- People who are currently taking medicines that suppress the immune system.
- People who are pregnant, possibly pregnant, or currently breastfeeding.
- People for whom the study drug or any required tests or procedures are not medically suitable (confirm with trial site).
- People who are unable or unwilling to provide written consent to participate.
- People who, at the time of enrolment, have certain serious heart complications, such as a hole between heart chambers, severe leakage of a heart valve, shock that is not responding to medicines, acute heart failure or fluid on the lungs, or dangerous irregular heart rhythms that cannot be controlled with medication.
