Who may and may not be able to join

Who may be able to join

  • People who are female and aged 18 or older
  • People who have undergone breast-conserving surgery or full breast removal, along with surgery to remove or check underarm lymph nodes
  • People whose surgical margins were clear, meaning no cancer cells were found at the edges of the removed tissue
  • People whose cancer fits one of these two staging categories: those who had surgery first and whose cancer was at stage pT1-2N1M0 with at least one lymph node containing a significant amount of cancer spread and a tumor risk score of 0–2; or those who had chemotherapy before surgery (at least 6 cycles) starting at stage cT1-2N1-2M0, and whose cancer responded well enough to reach stage ypT0-2N0M0, with the lymph node involvement confirmed by testing before chemotherapy (confirm with trial site)

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People whose cancer has spread to distant parts of the body
  • People whose cancer has spread to certain lymph nodes near the breastbone, collarbone, or shoulder on the same side as the affected breast
  • People who have previously had radiotherapy to the chest area
  • People who have cancer in both breasts
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People who have had another type of cancer in the past or currently, unless they have been cancer-free for at least 5 years — though some exceptions apply, including certain non-dangerous skin cancers, a specific slow-growing type of thyroid cancer, and cervical pre-cancer that has not spread (confirm with trial site for exceptions)
