Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People with bilateral breast cancer (cancer in both breasts), inflammatory breast cancer, or a type where the tumour cannot be found (occult breast cancer).
- People who have previously received any cancer treatment such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or targeted therapy, or who have had radiation treatment within a recent period before the trial starts.
- People who are receiving other cancer treatments at the same time, or who have had another cancer diagnosis within the past 5 years (with some exceptions for certain fully treated skin or cervical conditions).
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial within the past 4 weeks, or who have taken strong immune-suppressing or steroid medications above a certain dose within 2 weeks before joining (everyday nasal or inhaled steroids are generally excluded from this rule — confirm with trial site).
- People who have received a live or weakened (attenuated) vaccine in the past 4 weeks, or who have had a major non-breast surgery within 4 weeks before starting and have not fully recovered.
- People with an active or recurring autoimmune disease (some well-controlled conditions such as an underactive thyroid, certain skin conditions, or type 1 diabetes may be considered — confirm with trial site), or people with a weakened immune system such as those who are HIV-positive or have had an organ transplant.
- People with serious uncontrolled heart or blood vessel conditions, such as a heart attack or stroke in the past 6 months, severe heart failure, or an abnormal heart rhythm reading above a certain level on an ECG.
- People with active serious lung disease, active hepatitis B or C infection at certain levels, or a serious infection currently requiring treatment.
- People with a tendency to bleed or form blood clots, or who have a known allergy or sensitivity to the study drugs or their ingredients.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or women of childbearing potential who have a positive pregnancy test or who are unwilling to use contraception.
- People with other significant health conditions — such as uncontrolled high blood pressure, uncontrolled diabetes, or certain neurological or psychiatric conditions — that the trial doctor considers would make participation unsuitable.
