Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with a hereditary condition called heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia (a genetic condition that causes high cholesterol levels)
- People aged between 30 and 60 years old
- People who had both a coronary calcium score scan and a coronary CT angiogram (detailed heart imaging scans) at least 5 years ago, and both scans were done exclusively at the same imaging centre (ICT de la Pitié Salpêtrière)
- People who had no chest pain during physical activity at the time of their earlier heart scan
- People who have had a clinical examination performed
- People who are covered by a social protection or health insurance scheme (excluding AME)
- People who have been informed about the trial and have signed a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are under guardianship or who are unable to give consent
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who weigh more than 250 kg (due to technical limitations of the scanning equipment)
- People who are currently taking part in another clinical research study involving the human body, or who are still within an exclusion period following a previous research study
- People who are subject to a legal protection order
- People who have a medical reason why they cannot take the medications esmolol and/or atenolol (heart rate-lowering medicines used during scanning)
- For people who need to have a new CT angiogram and a chest-abdomen-pelvis CT scan, additional criteria apply — people with reduced kidney function, poorly controlled diabetes at the time of a previous heart scan, a personal history of heart disease or heart attack at the time of their earlier scan, a medical reason preventing the use of iodine-based contrast dye, or people who previously had an adverse reaction during an earlier heart CT scan, may not be eligible (confirm with trial site)
