Who may be able to join

  • Women with breast cancer who are between 20 and 70 years old.
  • People who have had surgery on one breast and have been diagnosed with arm swelling (lymphedema) as a result, where the affected arm measures more than 2 cm but less than 8 cm larger than the other arm at at least one measurement point, and the lymphedema is classified as stage I or II.
  • People who finished chemotherapy, radiation, or other follow-up treatments at least 3 months after their breast surgery.
  • People who are able to attend 12 treatment sessions and all related assessments, and who are willing to sign a consent form.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People whose breast cancer has a tendency to come back or spread to other parts of the body.
  • People who have a serious skin or tissue infection (such as cellulitis) in the affected arm.
  • People with uncontrolled heart failure, a blood clot in a deep vein (deep vein thrombosis), or severe problems with blood flow in the limbs.
  • People with stage III (severe/advanced) lymphedema, swelling in both arms, or who need to take medications that may affect the sweat glands in the arms.
  • People who have other conditions affecting the muscles or joints of the arms, joint deformities, or a history of arm surgery.
  • People who are pregnant or have other conditions that the trial site considers unsuitable for participation (confirm with trial site).
