Who might be able to join this trial:

For patients visiting the emergency department (ED):

• People who are able to understand the study and sign a written consent form before the study begins
• People who test negative for HIV on a rapid test
• People who meet at least one of the following: they asked their ED doctor about PrEP (a medication to help prevent HIV); they scored above 75% on a tool used to estimate HIV risk; they have previously been diagnosed with a bacterial sexually transmitted infection (STI); they are visiting the ED to get tested for STIs; or their ED doctor referred them as someone who may benefit from PrEP based on general medical guidelines

For ED clinicians (a separate part of the study):

• Doctors or clinicians who work in the Parkland Emergency Department

Who may not be able to join:

For patients:

• People who already have a known HIV diagnosis
• People who test positive for HIV on a rapid test during the visit
• People who have used PrEP in the last 4 weeks
• People who have a known allergy or sensitivity to any form of PrEP medication
• People who are not willing to attend follow-up care at the Parkland Infectious Disease (ID) clinic for ongoing PrEP management
• People under 18 years of age, adults who are unable to give their own consent, women who are known to be pregnant or breastfeeding at the time of enrolment, or people who are currently in prison

For ED clinicians:

• People under 18 years of age or people who are currently in prison
