Who may be able to join
- Adults aged 18 to 85 years
- People who are scheduled for planned (non-emergency) heart surgery, such as bypass surgery or heart valve repair or replacement
- People whose heart condition is classified as mild to moderate in terms of how it affects daily life (heart function class I–III)
- People who are willing and able to give their agreement to take part
- People whose surgery is expected to last at least 2 hours

- People who score below 24 on a standard memory and thinking test done before surgery, or who have serious difficulty communicating
- People with a history of delirium, dementia, Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, or long-term use of medications that affect mood or mental health
- People who have skin sores, infection, or physical abnormalities around both ears, a history of ear surgery or nerve damage near the ears, or a known allergy to electrode materials
- People with severe heart rhythm problems, or who have an implanted electronic device such as a pacemaker or defibrillator
- People who have taken part in another interventional clinical trial within the past 3 months
- People considered unsuitable by the trial investigators for other reasons (confirm with trial site)
