Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children between the ages of 6 and 10 years old
- Children whose caregiver has reported an autism diagnosis, and who score above 11 on a standard social communication questionnaire
- Children whose caregiver has reported bedtime resistance, with a score above 12 on a specific sleep habits questionnaire designed for autistic children
- A caregiver who is willing and able to be present at every bedtime throughout the study
- Children whose medication use has been stable, meaning no changes in the past 2 weeks or more
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who do not understand English, or whose family is unable to travel to the study location in Pittsburgh, PA
- Children who have also been diagnosed with sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or a major psychiatric condition such as major depression or bipolar disorder
- Children whose medication dose or timing is not currently stable
- Children who are currently receiving a behavioural treatment for a sleep disorder
