Who may and may not be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who may be able to join

  • People who give verbal agreement to take part in the trial.
  • People who have been referred for diagnostic breast imaging at The Ottawa Hospital because they were called back after a screening mammogram showed a soft-tissue finding, or because they have breast symptoms (such as a lump or nipple discharge) and their last screening mammogram was more than 6 months ago.
  • People who are able to have both wide-angle DBT and Insight 2D imaging done on the Siemens MAMMOMAT B.brilliant machine.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who have breast implants.
  • People who have had previous breast surgery on the breast being examined.
  • People for whom the required imaging views (wide-angle DBT and Insight 2D) were not completed.
  • People who are unable or unwilling to complete the imaging procedure as required by standard protocol.
  • People who decline the use of AI on the mammography machine, as those individuals are imaged on a different machine and are not included in the trial.
