Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You have been admitted to hospital for your first-ever heart attack (either a STEMI or NSTEMI type) within the last 7 days
- You have completed a short mood/depression questionnaire (called the PHQ-9) at the screening visit
- You have scored 26 or above on a short memory and thinking test (called the MMSE), meaning your thinking and memory are in good shape
- You are willing and able to sign a form giving your consent to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had a heart attack before this one
- You have already been diagnosed with major depression (based on recognised clinical guidelines)
- You have significant problems with memory or thinking (a score below 26 on the MMSE test)
- You have a serious illness or health condition where doctors expect your survival to be less than 12 months
- You are not able to attend or take part in the follow-up appointments scheduled during the study
- You are unwilling or unable to sign the consent form to take part
- You are currently taking part in another clinical trial that could affect the results of this study
