Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old (any sex)
  • You have had surgery to remove part of your stomach (partial gastrectomy)
  • After your surgery, you have been experiencing symptoms of a condition where the stomach empties too slowly (gastroparesis), confirmed by a scan or imaging test

  • You have serious heart, brain, liver, or kidney disease, or problems with your blood not clotting properly
  • You have had serious complications after your stomach surgery, such as a leak at the surgical join, bleeding in the gut, severe infection, fluid build-up in the abdomen, or a bowel blockage
  • You have a known allergy to acupuncture, or have skin damage, infection, or heavy scarring in the areas where needles would need to be placed
  • You have a diagnosed mental health condition, memory or thinking difficulties, or are otherwise unable to cooperate with treatment or assessments
  • You have taken medications in the past week that significantly affect how your stomach moves, and you are unable to stop taking them (confirm with trial site)
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have another special physical condition that may make acupuncture research unsuitable for you (confirm with trial site)
