Who might be able to join this trial:

For children with cochlear implants:

• Children and teenagers between 6 and 18 years old
• People with normal vision, including those whose vision is corrected with glasses or contact lenses
• People who were born deaf or lost their hearing before learning to speak, with severe to profound hearing loss in both ears, and who have a cochlear implant in one or both ears
• People who have a good level of ability to understand speech through their implant, based on a standard hearing test score (confirm with trial site)
• People whose parent or guardian agrees to their participation and signs a consent form, and who are willing and able to cooperate with the testing

For children with normal hearing (control group):

• Children and teenagers between 6 and 18 years old
• People with normal vision, including those whose vision is corrected with glasses or contact lenses
• People with normal hearing levels across a range of sound frequencies in both ears, based on a standard hearing test (confirm with trial site)
• People whose parent or guardian agrees to their participation and signs a consent form, and who are willing and able to cooperate with the testing

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have been diagnosed with a neurological or psychiatric condition
• People whose parent or guardian has not provided signed consent to participate
• People who the trial investigators consider unsuitable for the study for any other reason (confirm with trial site)
