Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have active rheumatoid arthritis that is not currently in remission, confirmed by a standard disease activity score (called DAS-28) above 2.6
- People who are currently being treated with conventional disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs), which are a standard group of medications used to manage rheumatoid arthritis
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have heart conditions (such as heart failure, irregular heartbeat, or reduced blood flow to the heart), diabetes, an active infection, or any significant illness other than rheumatoid arthritis
- People who have severe kidney or liver problems
- People who are currently being treated with biological DMARDs (a more advanced type of rheumatoid arthritis medication)
- People who are taking oral prednisolone (a steroid) at a dose greater than 15mg per day
- People who have a known allergy or sensitivity to any of the medications being used in this study
- People who are currently taking antioxidant supplements or medications
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
