Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who show signs of cognitive decline, as measured by a standard clinical assessment tool called the CDR (a score above zero indicates some level of decline).
- People who have noticed problems with their memory or thinking and have sought medical help for this at any point in their life.
- People who have significant health conditions that could affect how study results are interpreted, including hearing or vision problems, an active cancer that is currently being treated (smaller localised tumours may not apply — confirm with trial site), or any other condition the study doctor believes could interfere with the study.
- People who have been diagnosed with a major psychiatric condition (such as major depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia) or any condition that affects thinking and mental abilities.
- People who have had a significant brain injury, a large stroke (either caused by a blocked or burst blood vessel), a brain tumour, or any other event or treatment that may have caused brain damage, such as chemotherapy or radiation to the brain.
- People who have Parkinson's disease, epilepsy with frequent seizures (more than once a month in the past year) that requires treatment, multiple sclerosis, or any other condition that causes progressive brain deterioration.
