Who may be able to join
- People who have at least one positive Alzheimer's-related biomarker test result, such as a specific blood test (plasma p-tau217), a brain imaging scan (amyloid PET), or a spinal fluid test showing abnormal protein ratios — as defined by 2024 Alzheimer's Association diagnostic criteria.
- People aged between 50 and 75 years old (inclusive).
- People who have completed at least 6 years of formal schooling.
- People who score 0.5 or 1.0 on a standard memory and thinking assessment called the Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) — meaning mild cognitive concerns are present (confirm with trial site).
- People who score 21 or above on a standard thinking and memory test called the MMSE.
- People who have been taking memory or thinking support medications (such as cholinesterase inhibitors or memantine) at a stable dose for at least 6 weeks before the screening visit.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who have, or have previously had, a significant brain or nervous system condition other than Alzheimer's disease — such as epilepsy, stroke, or multiple sclerosis — or who have had brain surgery or a serious head injury.
- People who are currently taking medications that may significantly affect thinking or memory, such as anti-seizure drugs, antipsychotics, or benzodiazepines.
- People for whom an MRI scan or the study's brain stimulation device would not be safe — for example, those with certain metal implants, a pacemaker, or severe claustrophobia.
- People who have significant structural abnormalities in the brain shown on an MRI scan, such as hydrocephalus, stroke damage, or severe changes to the brain's white matter.
- People who have been diagnosed with major depression or another active psychiatric condition that is not well controlled.
- People who have a serious or unstable health condition — such as significant heart, kidney, liver, breathing, or active cancer-related illness — that the trial investigator considers a safety risk, or people with a history of alcohol or substance dependence.
