Who may be able to join
- Menopausal women who are taking an aromatase inhibitor (AI) — specifically letrozole (Femara), anastrozole (Arimidex), or exemestane (Aromasin) — as a treatment to help prevent breast cancer from returning, and who have been on the same AI for at least 4 weeks before joining and are not expected to change it during the study.
- People who developed or experienced worsening joint pain in multiple joints, on both sides of the body, after starting an AI, and who have had this pain for at least one month.
- People who rate their average pain as more than 4 out of 10 on a standard pain questionnaire (called the Brief Pain Inventory-Short Form) within the 7 days before being assigned to a study group.
- People who are already taking pain relief medication for their AI-related joint pain may be included, as long as that pain medication has not changed for at least 2 weeks before joining and no new pain medication has been started.
- People already taking antidepressants, including certain types known as SNRIs (such as duloxetine or venlafaxine), may be included, as long as the dose and medication have been stable for at least 4 weeks before joining and no new antidepressant has been started.
- People with a general health and activity level rated between 0 and 2 on a standard medical scale called the ECOG performance status, which broadly means people who are fully active or able to carry out light daily activities (confirm with trial site).
- People who are covered by a social security or health insurance system.
- People who speak French and are able to complete the study questionnaires.
- People who have read, understood, and signed a consent form agreeing to take part in the trial.
