Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with acute heart failure where the body is retaining too much fluid (known as volume overload)
- People who have at least one physical sign of excess fluid buildup in the body (such as swelling)
- People who are expected to need heart failure treatment given through a drip (intravenous furosemide) for at least 3 days
- People aged 18 years or older
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are in shock (a serious condition where the body is not getting enough blood flow)
- People who need medications to help the heart pump harder or to raise blood pressure (inotropes or vasopressors)
- People who are currently receiving, or are planned to receive, dialysis or a related fluid-removal procedure (renal replacement therapy or ultrafiltration)
- People who have had a kidney transplant
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with severely low potassium levels (below 2.5 mmol/L) or severely low sodium levels (below 125 mmol/L) in their blood
- People who have a known allergy to furosemide or any of its ingredients
