Who may be able to join
- Women aged 18 or older
- People diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer (stage I–III) that is hormone receptor-positive (meaning the cancer cells respond to estrogen and/or progesterone), confirmed through a tissue sample, and that has been surgically removed — regardless of HER2 status
- People who have completed all planned cancer treatments before joining, including surgery to remove the breast cancer and nearby lymph nodes (reconstructive surgery does not need to be finished), radiation therapy if it was required, and chemotherapy if it was required
- Treatment with anti-HER2 medicines is permitted prior to joining
- People whose general health and ability to function falls within a range rated 0, 1, or 2 on a standard scale used by doctors to measure how cancer affects daily activities (confirm with trial site)
- People who are able to swallow tablets or capsules
- People who are willing and able to sign a consent form and complete questionnaires
- People who are willing to return to the enrolling clinic for follow-up visits
- Women who could become pregnant must not currently be pregnant or breastfeeding (a pregnancy test will be required), and must be willing to use an approved form of contraception from the time of consent until 30 days after the last dose of the study drug — accepted methods include hormonal contraception, an intrauterine device (IUD), barrier methods used with spermicide, or surgical sterilisation
Who may not be able to join

- People who have had both ovaries surgically removed or who have had radiation to the ovaries, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding at the time of joining the trial, or who wish to become pregnant within 5 years
- People with a history of a psychiatric illness that is currently being treated
- People with a current or past history of thoughts or behaviours related to suicide
- People currently taking antidepressant, anti-anxiety, or antipsychotic medications, or who have a history of seizures
- People with a history of bulimia or anorexia nervosa
- People currently taking medications that are known to strongly affect how the body processes a specific liver enzyme called CYP2B6 (confirm with trial site)
- People currently taking medications that are broken down in the body through a specific liver pathway called CYP2D6 (confirm with trial site)
- People currently using a type of medication called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
- People with any history of high blood pressure, regardless of whether it is currently controlled
- People with a history of a specific type of eye condition called angle closure glaucoma
- People currently taking any of the following medicines: levodopa, amantadine, methylene blue, or linezolid
- People who have a known allergy or sensitivity to any of the following: bupropion, anastrozole, letrozole, exemestane, goserelin, or leuprolide
- People currently receiving radiation therapy or systemic treatments such as chemotherapy (standard or experimental) — note that anti-HER2 treatments are permitted
