Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (a condition where the heart muscle is thickened and blocks blood flow) with a documented blockage measurement of 50 mmHg or more, and who are currently taking the medication mavacamten through a standard prescription.
  • People whose heart pumping function (measured by an ultrasound of the heart) is at least 55% while taking mavacamten at the time of joining the trial.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have severe narrowing of the aortic valve or a blockage just below the aortic valve.
  • People who have a known condition where a different disease (such as Noonan syndrome, Fabry disease, or amyloidosis) is causing the heart muscle to thicken in a way that looks similar to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
  • People who have a history of their heart pumping function dropping below 30%.
  • People who have an irregular heart rhythm called paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (where episodes come and go) with a recorded episode in the past 3 months.
  • People who have any form of atrial fibrillation (whether it comes and goes or is permanent) and are not currently taking blood-thinning medication.
