Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 years or older
- People who are currently in hospital with worsening heart failure and signs of excess fluid buildup in the body
- People who have been diagnosed with heart failure (either the type where the heart pumps weakly, or the type where the heart is stiff and pumps with normal force)
- People whose doctors have determined that water tablets (diuretics) are needed as part of their treatment
- People who are able to have their sleep assessed using a device called WatchPAT (a wearable monitor worn on the finger and wrist during sleep)
- People who are able to understand and agree to take part in the trial by giving their consent
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are known to have a specific type of sleep-disordered breathing called central sleep apnea as their main sleep breathing problem
- People who are currently using a CPAP machine (a device worn during sleep to help with breathing)
- People experiencing severe breathing failure that requires a machine to breathe for them
- People who have a condition affecting their hands or fingers that would prevent the WatchPAT sleep monitoring device from being worn properly (confirm with trial site)
- People whose heart and blood pressure are too unstable to safely take part
- People who are pregnant
