Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You must be at least 18 years old
  • You must have a confirmed diagnosis of gastroparesis (a condition where the stomach empties more slowly than normal)
  • You must not be taking insulin prescribed for diabetes
  • You must already have a gastric electrical stimulator (a small implanted device used to help with stomach symptoms) that has been in place for at least 3 months

Who may not be able to join:

  • You cannot participate if you are pregnant
  • You may not be able to join if you have had an allergic reaction to the adhesives used to attach EKG stickers (small sticky patches placed on the skin to monitor the heart)
  • You cannot join if you are unable to give your informed agreement to take part in the study
  • You cannot join if you are not willing to have up to 8 small blood samples (5 ml each) taken
  • You cannot join if you are not willing to lie in a bed for up to 5.5 hours
