Who may be able to join
- People aged between 18 and 40 years old
- People with a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 (for study groups 1 and 2) or a BMI between 25.0 and 39.9 (for study groups 3 and 4)
- People who are able to understand what the study involves and agree to take part

- People who have taken vitamin supplements in the week before the performance test
- People in study groups 3 and 4 who do more than one hour of moderate exercise per week
- Women in study groups 1 and 3 who have used hormonal contraceptives in the six months before the study begins
- Women in study groups 1 and 3 who have a diagnosed menstrual disorder, such as polycystic ovarian syndrome or absence of periods
- Women in study groups 1 and 3 who have given birth within the 12 months before joining the study
- Women in study groups 1 and 3 who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Women in study groups 1 and 3 who have premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
- People with a history of epileptic seizures
- People with a history of depression
- People with a history of a manic or psychotic episode
- People who have had an eating disorder such as bulimia nervosa or anorexia nervosa within the past five years
- People who are unable to communicate adequately through speech
- People who are unable to follow instructions
- People who regularly take any medication other than thyroxine
- People whose average daily alcohol intake exceeds 12 grams of pure alcohol per day (for women) or 24 grams of pure alcohol per day (for men)
- People who follow a vegan diet
- People who use nicotine daily
- People who currently use or have a history of regular illegal drug use within the past year
- People with a known heart or cardiovascular condition
- People with resting blood pressure above 160/90 mmHg
- People with a known lung condition
- People with arthritis or rheumatic diseases
- People with blood-related (hematologic) diseases
- People with bronchial asthma
- People who have had surgery within the past four to six months
- People with bone, joint, neurological, or other conditions that would prevent safe maximum effort on a stationary exercise bike
- People with low red blood cell levels (anaemia), defined as below 12.0 g/dl for women and below 14.0 g/dl for men
