Who may be able to join
- People aged between 50 and 75 years old (inclusive).
- People whose native language is Spanish.
- People who have been diagnosed with a mild memory-related condition linked to early Alzheimer's disease, confirmed through a spinal fluid test or a special brain scan that detects amyloid (a protein associated with Alzheimer's).
- People with normal colour vision, or colour vision that is fully corrected to normal (for example, with glasses or contact lenses), as this is needed to complete certain visual parts of the study.
- People whose hearing is good enough to hear the sounds used in the study — specifically, those with a hearing threshold of 50 dB or below, as tested during the screening visit.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People with a serious ongoing or complex long-term illness that the study doctor believes could affect their safety or the reliability of the study results — this includes conditions such as advanced heart disease, severe kidney disease (stage 4 or 5), severe lung disease, cancer that has spread or is terminal, serious blood disorders, or active and uncontrolled infections such as untreated HIV.
- People whose brain scans show signs of stroke in key brain areas, or other findings that could explain memory or thinking problems for reasons other than Alzheimer's disease.
- People with a history of alcohol misuse or misuse of mind-altering substances.
- People who have been diagnosed with depression or any severe psychiatric condition within the past 5 years.
- People who have had a change in their benzodiazepine (a type of sedative or anxiety medication) or antidepressant medication within the 6 months before the study baseline assessment.
- People who are currently taking antipsychotic (neuroleptic) medications.
- People who have been treated for epilepsy within the past 5 years, or who have any other neurological condition that may cause thinking or memory problems or structural changes in the brain.
- People who are unable to read and write in Spanish.
- People who are found during the screening visit to be unable to use the study device effectively — for example, due to physical or skin-related factors that prevent the correct placement of sensors on the body, or because the brain signal recordings are too disrupted to be reliably used.
