Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 13 years of age or older
- People who can read, write, and speak English at a 5th-grade level or higher
- Adults who are legally able to give their own consent to participate, or children who are able to give their agreement (assent) to participate
- People who are willing and able to commit to attending the study sessions and completing the study activities
- People who are willing and able to use the sound and data collection equipment used in the study
- People who are willing to use their own personal devices, which may include earbuds or headphones and a smartphone, iPad, or similar device with internet and/or Bluetooth access
- People who have normal hearing in both ears
- People who have never experienced ringing or buzzing sounds in their ears (tinnitus)
- People who do not use a heart pacemaker and have no history of heart rhythm problems (such as conduction delays or blocks)
- People with no known history of fainting, fainting spells, seizures, spinning sensations, or balance problems (including conditions such as epilepsy, syncope, vertigo, or nystagmus)
- People who do not take any of the following medications: beta blockers, steroids, ephedrine, anti-anxiety medications (such as diazepam, lorazepam, or clonazepam), or acute or chronic pain medications including narcotics or codeine
- People who will not be under the influence of alcohol, THC, psilocybin, or other mood-altering substances in the 12 hours before any study session
