Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People with mild to moderate-to-severe hearing loss in both ears, confirmed through hearing tests at the start of the study (specifically, a hearing level between 20 and just under 80 decibels in both ears)
- People who are willing and available to attend or complete follow-up for 5 weeks after joining

Who may not be able to join:
- People younger than 18 years old
- People whose hearing loss is very severe (80 decibels or more in either ear)
- People with normal hearing (below 20 decibels)
- People with a middle ear condition, such as ear infections or fluid or discharge coming from the ears
- People who are not willing or not available to complete the 5-week follow-up period
- People who only have hearing loss in one ear
- People who do not have WhatsApp on their own personal device, or who can only use someone else's WhatsApp account
- People whose main language is not English, isiXhosa, or Sepedi, and who do not have sufficient working knowledge of any of those three languages
