Who may be able to join

  • Women aged 40 or older who have no breast symptoms and have had, or are scheduled to have, a routine 2-view breast imaging scan (called digital breast tomosynthesis) on both breasts for screening purposes.
  • Women aged 40 or older who have had a 2-view breast imaging scan on both breasts for diagnostic purposes, and whose results placed them in a category (BI-RADS 4 or 5) that means a biopsy has been recommended (confirm with trial site).

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • Men, or women under 40 years of age.
  • Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
  • Women with physical conditions affecting their posture or body shape (such as a curved spine) that may make a specialised breast imaging exam difficult or impossible.
  • Women who have previously had radiation treatment to the chest area.
  • Women who have taken part in a previous breast clinical trial that involved extra radiation exposure.
  • Women who have had a large number of diagnostic X-ray examinations for monitoring a condition such as tuberculosis, or who have severe scoliosis.
