Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who have been diagnosed with a type of dementia other than probable Alzheimer's disease.
- People who have significant blood vessel-related damage in the brain, such as a Fazekas score above 2, more than 3 small silent strokes, a stroke affecting a major brain artery, or severe small vessel or white matter disease.
- People who have more than one key feature associated with Lewy body dementia, such as recurring visual hallucinations, fluctuating mental clarity, a specific sleep disorder called REM sleep behaviour disorder, or spontaneous movement symptoms like tremor, stiffness, or slowness.
- People with other serious health conditions that would interfere with taking part in the study or make the results difficult to interpret.
- People with a psychiatric disorder that would make it difficult to follow the study requirements.
- People who have used high-dose vitamin B3 supplements within 30 days before the trial start date.
- People who have had an active cancer diagnosis (other than certain non-spreading skin conditions) within the two years before screening, or who currently have a significant ongoing condition affecting the blood, hormones, heart, kidneys, liver, digestive system, or nervous system (confirm with trial site, as some stable conditions may still be considered).
- People who are unable to have an MRI scan or who are unable to follow the study procedures.
