Who may be able to join
As a participant with type 2 diabetes:
- Adults aged 18 years or older who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes by a doctor, or who have a blood sugar marker (HbA1c) above 6.5%
As a control participant (without diabetes):
- Adults aged 18 years or older who have not been diagnosed with any form of diabetes
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
- People diagnosed with diabetes that developed during pregnancy
- People diagnosed with a condition called latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA), which is a slowly developing form of autoimmune diabetes (confirm with trial site)
- People with physical disabilities that affect their normal movement or activity patterns, such as amputations or paralysis
- People with cognitive or mental health conditions that affect daily functioning, such as dementia or certain psychological disorders
- People with certain serious health conditions that affect normal physical activity, such as severe heart failure, severe chronic lung disease, advanced liver disease, end-stage kidney failure, cancer, or those currently hospitalised
- People who are currently pregnant, or who have given birth within the past year
- People who are currently taking part in another structured physical activity program or intervention
- People with type 2 diabetes are not eligible to join as a control participant
