Who may be able to join
- People who have type 2 diabetes that is being treated, with blood sugar control (HbA1c) measured between 6.0% and 10.0% at the screening visit.

Who may not be able to join

- People with significantly elevated liver enzyme levels or a chronic liver disease.
- People who are pregnant, or people of childbearing potential who are not using adequate contraception.
- People who have had changes made to their regular medications for chronic conditions (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or cholesterol) within the past 3 months.
- People who are currently taking cholesterol-lowering medications other than a statin.
