Who may be able to join
- People who have recently been diagnosed with a malignant (cancerous) ovarian germ cell tumour.
- People who have recently been diagnosed with a non-cancerous ovarian germ cell tumour, or who have no known gynaecological condition (these people would be part of a comparison group in the study).
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who have previously received or are currently receiving chemotherapy for a malignant ovarian germ cell tumour.
- People who have previously had surgery for a malignant ovarian germ cell tumour.
- People who are pregnant — for those not having surgery or chemotherapy, this would be confirmed by verbal communication; for those having surgery or chemotherapy, a urine pregnancy test must show a negative result and be recorded in the medical notes.
- People who are pregnant are not eligible because a substance called fetal circulating DNA, which comes from the baby, is known to be present in the mother's blood and could affect the study results.
- People who do not give their informed consent to take part in the study.
- People under 16 years of age.
- People who have a history of any other type of cancer.
