Who may be able to join
- People aged 18 or older.
- People who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and have already had deep brain stimulation (DBS) devices surgically placed on both sides of a specific area of the brain called the subthalamic nucleus.
- People who received their DBS surgery at least three months before the study begins, to allow time for their usual care to be properly adjusted.
- People who had at least a mild level of tremor (shaking) before their DBS surgery, based on a standard Parkinson's rating scale, specifically a score of at least 2 out of 4 for resting tremor in at least one limb.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who do not have a post-surgery head CT scan (a detailed brain scan) with very thin image slices (1mm or smaller), taken at least one week after the DBS device was first implanted.
- People who received their DBS surgery less than three months before the study begins.
