Who may be able to join
- People aged between 18 and 75 years old.
- People who have Type 2 diabetes with a blood sugar control reading (A1c) between 6.5% and 9.0%, who are on stable diabetes medications, and who are able to walk and move around on their own.

Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People with Type 1 diabetes, or people with Type 2 diabetes who are taking insulin or sulfonylurea medications, or who have an HbA1c above 9%.
- People whose kidney filtering rate (eGFR) is below 45.
- People with a systolic (top number) blood pressure above 160 mmHg and/or a diastolic (bottom number) blood pressure above 110 mmHg, whether or not they are on blood pressure medication.
- People with LDL ("bad") cholesterol above 200 mg/dL.
- People with triglyceride (a type of blood fat) levels above 500 mg/dL.
- People who currently smoke tobacco or use illicit drugs.
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- People who are currently enrolled in a weight-loss or weight-management program.
- People who are currently following a special or medically prescribed diet for another condition (for example, a gluten-free diet for coeliac disease).
- People who have recently been prescribed a medication intended for weight loss or known to reduce appetite (though people who have been on a stable dose of such a medication for 3 months may be eligible — confirm with trial site).
- People with a history of an eating disorder.
- People who have had surgery for weight management, or who have an active eating disorder.
- People with chronic kidney disease where kidney filtering function (eGFR calculated using the MDRD method) is below 50 mL/min/1.73m² (confirm with trial site).
- People currently receiving treatment for an active inflammatory condition, rheumatologic (joint or autoimmune) disease, or cancer.
- People who have had a major heart or cardiovascular event in the past 6 months, such as a heart attack, a procedure to open blocked heart arteries, heart bypass surgery, hospitalisation for heart failure, or a stroke or mini-stroke.
- People with a history of uncontrolled irregular heart rhythm (note: rate-controlled atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter are not exclusions — confirm with trial site).
- People with liver cirrhosis or significant problems with liver function.
- People with a history of thyroid disease whose thyroid medication dose has needed adjusting in the past 3 months (note: people with hypothyroidism on a stable thyroid medication dose are not excluded — confirm with trial site).
- People who work shift work with changing or night-time hours.
- People who regularly care for dependents and experience frequent overnight disruptions to their sleep.
- People who have more than one trip planned during the study period to a destination in a time zone more than 3 hours different from their own.

- People with a history of cancer who are currently undergoing active treatment, except for certain non-melanoma skin cancers.
- People with a known history of Type 1 diabetes.
