  • People aged 18 to 75 years old (inclusive) at the time of screening, of any gender.
  • People who have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes for at least 8 weeks before screening, and who have not taken any diabetes medications in the 8 weeks before screening.
  • People whose HbA1c (a blood sugar measurement taken over several months) is between 7.5% and 11.0% at screening.
  • People whose fasting blood sugar level is 13.9 mmol/L or lower at screening.
  • People whose Body Mass Index (BMI) — a measure of body weight relative to height — is between 19.0 and 35.0 kg/m² (inclusive) at screening.
  • People who are able to understand the purpose of the study, are willing to take part and receive the relevant treatments, and are able to provide written consent to participate.

  • People who have Type 1 diabetes or another specific type of diabetes (other than Type 2).
  • People who have taken any diabetes medications (including herbal medicines, traditional medicines, or health products) in the 2 months before screening.
  • People who have taken certain non-diabetes medications that can significantly affect blood sugar levels for 7 or more days within 2 months before screening — these include some steroid medicines (such as cortisone-type tablets or injections, but not inhaled, eye drop, or skin-applied forms), growth hormones, certain heart or nerve medicines, high-dose aspirin (over 300 mg per day), danazol, octreotide, or certain hormone-related medicines (confirm with trial site for the full list).
  • People who have a known allergy or sensitivity to a class of diabetes medicines called GLP-1 receptor agonists.
  • People who have had a serious diabetes-related emergency (such as diabetic ketoacidosis or a dangerous high blood sugar episode) in the 6 months before screening.
  • People who have had certain serious diabetes complications in the 6 months before screening, including severe eye problems affecting vision, severe nerve damage, poor circulation in the legs, or diabetic foot disease requiring treatment.
  • People who have had a severe low blood sugar episode in the 6 months before screening, or three or more non-severe low blood sugar episodes in the month before screening.
  • People who have a history of delayed stomach emptying (gastroparesis), clinically significant stomach-emptying problems, or serious digestive tract disease.
  • People who have a condition that may affect the reliability of the HbA1c blood test, such as certain blood cancers, a type of anaemia where red blood cells break down too quickly, or sickle cell disease.
  • People who have a history of inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), either short-term or long-term.
  • People who have had an acute gallbladder inflammation in the 6 months before screening, or gallstones causing symptoms or requiring treatment in the 6 months before screening (except people who have had their gallbladder removed and are stable).
  • People who have Cushing's syndrome, an overactive thyroid, or a poorly controlled underactive thyroid at screening (some exceptions may apply — confirm with trial site).
  • People who have a personal or close family history (in a parent, sibling, or child) of a condition called multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 or medullary thyroid cancer.
  • People who have had certain serious heart or stroke-related events in the 6 months before screening, including severe heart failure, an abnormal heart rhythm requiring treatment, unstable chest pain, a heart attack, heart bypass surgery or a stent procedure, stroke, or a mini-stroke (transient ischaemic attack).
  • People who have had a cancer diagnosis in the past 5 years (with the possible exception of certain fully treated early-stage cancers — confirm with trial site), or who are currently being investigated for a possible cancer.
  • People who have had a serious injury, serious infection, or surgery that may affect blood sugar control in the month before screening, or who have planned surgery that may interfere with completing the study.
  • People whose blood pressure at screening is 160 mmHg (systolic) or higher and/or 100 mmHg (diastolic) or higher.
  • People who have a clinically significant abnormality on their heart tracing (ECG) that may affect their safety or the study results.
  • People whose liver enzyme levels (ALT or AST) or bilirubin levels in their blood are significantly above the normal range at screening (confirm specific thresholds with trial site).
  • People whose kidney filtration rate (eGFR) is below 60 mL/min/1.73 m², indicating reduced kidney function.
  • People with a serum calcitonin level (a hormone measured in the blood) of 50 ng/L or above at screening.
  • People whose haemoglobin (a measure of red blood cells) is below 100 g/L at screening.
  • People with very high fasting triglyceride (blood fat) levels of 5.7 mmol/L or above at screening.
  • People with significantly elevated levels of pancreatic enzymes (amylase and/or lipase) in their blood at screening.
  • People who test positive for HIV, hepatitis C, syphilis, or certain hepatitis B markers at screening.
  • People who have received a blood or plasma transfusion in the 3 months before screening, or who have donated blood or lost more than 400 mL of blood in the 3 months before screening.
  • People with a known or suspected history of excessive alcohol use in the past year, defined as drinking more than 14 units of alcohol per week (where 1 unit is approximately 360 mL of beer, 150 mL of wine, or 45 mL of spirits).
