Who may be able to join

  • People who have previously been found through genetic testing to carry the LRRK2 G2019S or GBA N370S gene variant
  • People aged 50 years or older
  • People who are able to understand and communicate in English
  • People who are able to walk around inside their home without using a walking aid such as a cane or walker
  • People who own a smartphone with a screen size of at least 4.6 inches, running Android version 9 or newer, or iOS version 15 or newer

Who may not be able to join

  • People who have been diagnosed with, or who themselves report having, a neurodegenerative disease (such as Parkinson's disease or similar conditions)
  • People who report falling three or more times per year
  • People who have difficulty with hand coordination or thinking and memory problems that would make it hard to use a smartphone
  • People who are not aware of, or do not want to be told about, the increased health risks that may be associated with carrying the LRRK2 or GBA1 gene variant
  • People who do not live independently in the community (for example, those living in a residential care facility)
  • People whose smartphone is one of the following models, which are incompatible with the study app: Huawei P8 Lite, Huawei P9 Lite, Xiaomi Mi 6, or Huawei P20 Lite
