Who may be able to join

Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who are unable to tolerate medical imaging, or who have implants or metal in their body that make imaging unsafe, including those with a deep brain stimulation device.
- People who have a seizure disorder, or a current problem with alcohol or substance use.
- People who are unable to speak and read English.
- People who, in the opinion of the lead clinician, would be at increased risk or would be unable to fully complete the study for any reason.
- People whose Parkinson's-like symptoms are caused by something other than idiopathic Parkinson's disease, such as certain medications (e.g., metoclopramide or antipsychotics), metabolic or genetic conditions (e.g., Wilson's Disease), brain infections, stroke-related brain disease, or other degenerative conditions (e.g., Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Multiple System Atrophy, Corticobasal Degeneration, or Lewy Body dementia).
- People who have an advanced form of dementia, including Parkinson's disease dementia or Alzheimer's disease, or who score below 18 on the MoCA thinking and memory test.
- People with a history of moderate to severe lung disease, poorly controlled heart failure, a significant heart or stroke event in the past 6 months, or any other health condition that the investigator considers a safety concern.
- People with a history of a psychiatric illness that the investigator considers a safety risk.
- People who are currently taking sedative medications that the investigator considers to be a clinical concern in the context of this study.
- People who have had a change in their Parkinson's, antidepressant, or anti-anxiety medications within one month before their first study visit.
- People who are considered a safety risk by the investigator for any reason.
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial within the past 3 months.
