Who may be able to join

  • The person agrees to take part willingly and signs a consent form.
  • The person is a woman aged between 18 and 70 years.
  • A tissue sample has confirmed an advanced (Stage III or IV) diagnosis of serous or endometrioid ovarian cancer, primary peritoneal carcinoma, or fallopian tube carcinoma.
  • The cancer came back within 6 months of finishing platinum-based chemotherapy, or it continued to grow during that chemotherapy.
  • The person is generally well enough to carry out light activity (a standard health score of 0 or 1), with a life expectancy of at least 4 months.
  • Blood count results within the 14 days before joining must meet minimum levels — without having had a blood transfusion in the previous 14 days — including haemoglobin, neutrophil count, and platelet count at or above specified thresholds (confirm with trial site).
  • Liver and kidney blood test results within 14 days before joining must fall within acceptable ranges, with slightly wider limits allowed if liver metastases are present (confirm with trial site).
  • Heart function must show a left ventricular ejection fraction at or above the normal lower limit of 50%.
  • The person must be able to swallow and take oral (by mouth) medications.
  • At least 4 weeks must have passed since the last chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, or other cancer treatment before the first dose of the study drugs.
  • Women who could become pregnant must agree to use highly effective contraception throughout the study and for 6 months after the last dose, must have a negative pregnancy test within 7 days before joining, and must not be breastfeeding.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who have previously been treated with arsenic-based medicines (such as arsenic trioxide or Compound Huangdai Tablets) or with anlotinib hydrochloride or similar targeted therapies.
  • People with a known allergy or sensitivity to anlotinib or any of its ingredients.
  • People with a known allergy or sensitivity to arsenic-based medicines or any of their ingredients.
  • People who have had significant coughing up of blood (more than 50 mL per day in the 3 months before joining), active bleeding such as gastrointestinal bleeding or bleeding stomach ulcers, or a blood vessel inflammation condition called vasculitis.
  • People who have had a blood clot event in an artery or vein in the past 6 months, such as a stroke, deep vein thrombosis (unless it was caused by a catheter and has resolved), or a pulmonary embolism.
  • People with high blood pressure that cannot be controlled with medication, or who have had a heart attack, severe chest pain (unstable angina), significant heart failure, clinically significant irregular heartbeat, or symptomatic congestive heart failure within the past 6 months.
  • People with lung conditions such as interstitial lung disease, non-infectious lung inflammation, pulmonary fibrosis, or active pneumonia that is not under control.
  • People with kidney concerns shown by protein in the urine above a certain level (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have received a live vaccine within 28 days before the first dose, or who plan to receive one during the study.
  • People with HIV infection or AIDS, or active hepatitis B or C infection at specified levels, or a combined hepatitis B and C infection (confirm with trial site for specific thresholds).
  • People who have had a serious infection requiring hospitalisation within the past 4 weeks, or an active infection of a certain severity requiring antibiotics within the past 2 weeks, or an unexplained fever above 38.5°C during screening (unless the study doctor considers it related to the tumour), or active tuberculosis within the past year.
  • People who have had another type of cancer within the past 3 years, except for certain fully treated skin cancers or cervical carcinoma in situ.
  • People who have had palliative radiotherapy covering more than 20% of the bone marrow within the past week, or who have a history of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or acute myeloid leukaemia (AML).
  • People who have had major surgery within the past 28 days (minor procedures such as diagnostic biopsies or placement of a PICC line are generally acceptable — confirm with trial site).
  • People who have previously had, or are planned to have, a bone marrow or solid organ transplant from a donor.
  • People with significant nerve damage in the hands or feet (peripheral neuropathy grade 2 or above), or active cancer that has spread to the brain or spinal cord (stable, previously treated brain metastases may be considered — confirm with trial site).
  • People who are currently using another experimental drug or taking part in another clinical trial, or who have done so within the past 30 days.
  • People with conditions that seriously affect the ability to absorb oral medications, such as difficulty swallowing, ongoing severe diarrhoea, or a bowel obstruction.
  • People with any other condition that the study doctor believes could interfere with the study results or the person's ability to follow the study requirements.

If this is close to home

This page includes language about advanced illness, prognosis, or palliative care, because that is how the trial's eligibility criteria are written. Seeing it set out plainly can land hard, whether it is about you or about someone you are caring for. You do not have to be at a crisis point to talk to someone.

  • Griefline — grief and loss counselling, 9am to 6pm weekdays and midday to 6pm weekends (AEST/AEDT): 1300 845 745
  • Carer Gateway — practical and emotional support if you are caring for someone, 8am to 5pm weekdays: 1800 422 737
  • Canteen — for 12 to 25 year olds affected by cancer, their own or a family member's: 1800 945 215
  • Palliative Care Australia — directory of palliative care services near you: palliativecare.org.au
  • Lifeline — 24/7, for any kind of distress, at any hour the services above are closed: 13 11 14

Palliative care is not the same as giving up on treatment, and it is not only for the last weeks of life. It is symptom and comfort care that can run alongside active treatment, including a clinical trial.
