Who may be able to join
- People who have successfully enrolled in the VDOP program and are ready to begin it, and who are not currently on insulin therapy
- People who have been clinically diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
- People whose HbA1c (a blood sugar level test result) was between 8.0% and 12.0% within the last 3 months
- People whose doctor has assessed them as willing and able to wear a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) device
- People whose diabetes medications have stayed the same for the 3 months before joining the trial
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who are already on insulin therapy, planning to start insulin therapy, already using a CGM device, or whose CGM device use is covered under VA policy
- People who have gestational diabetes, are pregnant at the time of screening, or are planning to become pregnant during the study
- People who have end-stage kidney disease and are currently on dialysis
- People who are expected to need short-term use of steroid medications (such as tablets, injections, or IV steroids)
- People with conditions that could affect the accuracy of HbA1c test results, such as recent gastrointestinal bleeding, a blood transfusion within the past 3 months, or expected use of a red blood cell-stimulating medication called erythropoietin
- People with a known or suspected significant allergy to Dexcom sensor materials
- People who are planning to join or are currently enrolled in a different weight management program other than MOVE!
- People who are currently participating in another clinical trial
