Who may be able to join

  • People who are between 55 and 75 years old.
  • People who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease by a neurologist.
  • People whose Parkinson's disease is at a mild to moderate stage (rated between Stage I and Stage III on a standard scale used by doctors).
  • People who are able to understand and follow simple instructions and take an active part in the treatment sessions.
  • People who have signed a consent form agreeing to take part before the trial begins.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who have severe memory or thinking difficulties, based on a score below 21 on a standard cognitive test called the MoCA.
  • People who have serious bone, joint, or muscle conditions that greatly limit their movement or would prevent them from taking part in physiotherapy sessions.
  • People who have vision or balance disorders that could make it unsafe for them to use virtual reality equipment.
  • People who experience serious medical events during the study — such as a heart attack or stroke — that could put them at risk or interfere with the treatment.
  • People who experience serious side effects from the treatment itself, such as severe dizziness, ongoing nausea, disorientation, or headaches that make it impossible to continue.
  • People who miss four or more treatment sessions without a justified reason, as this would be considered not following the study plan.
  • People whose neurological condition significantly worsens, or who develop new complications that make physiotherapy participation unsuitable.
  • People who undergo surgery or other medical procedures — unrelated to Parkinson's disease — that affect their general movement or ability to take part in the sessions.

This study is not part of the standard drug-approval phase pathway (for example an observational, device, behavioural, or registry study), so a phase success rate does not apply.

This date has passed while the registry still lists the trial as open to participants. Sponsors often update a trial's status without revising its projected end date, so it may well still be recruiting — but the record is out of date in at least one respect. Check with the study contact before relying on either.
