- People who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant within the next 6 months, or who become pregnant during the study.
- People who are breastfeeding during the study period.
- People who are currently taking any medication for weight loss.
- People who have been diagnosed with sickle cell anaemia, or who receive such a diagnosis during the study period.
- People who are receiving haemodialysis (a kidney treatment), have recently had significant bleeding or a blood transfusion, or are receiving a hormone called erythropoietin to stimulate red blood cell production.
- People who have a diagnosed mental health condition such as major depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia.
- People who are taking part in another diabetes-related program or intervention at the same time as this study.
- People who use an insulin pump to manage their diabetes.
- People who manage their diabetes through diet alone, without any medication.
- People who are following a diet prescribed and supervised by a dietitian because of another medical condition or a surgical procedure.
