Who may be able to join

  • People who are willing to sign a consent form before the study begins, understand what the study involves including possible side effects, and are able to follow the rules and restrictions set out in the study plan.
  • People who are between 18 and 75 years old (inclusive) at the time of signing the consent form, of any gender.
  • People whose body mass index (BMI) — a measure of body weight relative to height — is between 18.5 and 35.0 at the screening stage.
  • People who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for at least 180 days before the screening stage, based on World Health Organization diagnostic guidelines (including a blood test called HbA1c, which measures average blood sugar levels over time).

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who have been confirmed or are suspected to have type 1 diabetes, or a specific form of diabetes caused by another condition (such as a single-gene disorder, cystic fibrosis, pancreas inflammation, or a medication or chemical) before the screening stage.
  • People who have had a severe low blood sugar episode (classified as Grade 3) within the 3 months before screening.
  • People who have a condition that could affect the accuracy of the HbA1c blood test at screening, or who have donated blood, lost more than 400 mL of blood, or received a blood transfusion within the 3 months before screening.
  • People who have been diagnosed with an active cancer in the 5 years before screening — with some exceptions for certain fully treated skin cancers or non-spreading cancers (confirm with trial site) — or where there is strong suspicion of a possible cancer at the time of screening.
