Who may be able to join

  • People of any sex (as recorded at birth) who are 18 years of age or older at the time of signing the consent form.
  • People who were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at least 180 days before the screening visit.
  • People whose HbA1c (a blood test that shows average blood sugar levels over several months) falls between 7% and 10%, as measured by the trial's laboratory at screening.
  • People who are managing their diabetes with lifestyle changes alone, or with up to three approved diabetes tablets (such as metformin or certain other common oral diabetes medicines), where the dose and type of medicine has been stable for a set period before screening.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People whose kidneys are not working well enough, based on a specific blood test result falling below a certain level at screening.
  • People who have diabetic eye disease (affecting the retina or the central part of the eye) and have received certain eye treatments within the 180 days before screening, or who are expected to need those treatments within the 180 days after screening — an eye examination is also required as part of this assessment.
  • People whose doctor identifies them as having a condition where they cannot feel the warning signs of low blood sugar (sometimes called hypoglycaemic unawareness), based on a standard questionnaire.
  • People who have had repeated serious episodes of very low blood sugar in the past year, as assessed by the trial doctor.
  • People who have previously been treated with certain injectable or oral medicines that work on the GLP-1 pathway (a hormone involved in blood sugar control), or with a type of medicine called amylin analogues, before the screening visit.
