Who may be able to join
- People who are Saudi nationals, of any gender (male or female)
- People aged between 45 and 60 years old

Who may not be able to join

- People with Type 1 diabetes
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with a serious illness such as kidney disease, liver disease, thyroid problems, coeliac disease, or a condition where the stomach empties too slowly (gastroparesis)
- People who have used any weight-loss treatments in the three months before joining the trial
- People with diabetes who are taking the medications acarbose, metformin at doses above 1 gram per day, or GLP-1 medications (a type of diabetes drug)
- People who have taken antibiotics or other treatments that affect gut bacteria in the last three months
- People who have had bypass surgery, sleeve gastrectomy (stomach-reduction surgery), or colon restriction surgery
- People with a long-term gut or bowel condition, except for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- People with a history of or symptoms related to bowel obstruction or inflammatory bowel disease
- People who follow unusual diets, such as vegetarians, vegans, or those who heavily use dietary supplements
- People who have used probiotic, prebiotic, or fibre supplements in the three months before joining
- People who regularly take certain medications that can affect food absorption or gut bacteria, including loperamide, cholestyramine, antacids, H2-blockers, proton pump inhibitors, fibrates, corticosteroids, sex steroids, omega-3 supplements, or anti-inflammatory drugs
- People with autonomic neuropathy (a type of nerve damage affecting automatic body functions)
- People with any condition that weakens the immune system
- People who drink more than 30 grams of alcohol daily
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial in the past six months
- People who are not legally or mentally able to provide their own consent to participate
