Who may be able to join

- The person must be comfortable having blood drawn.
- The person must not currently be doing structured resistance exercise more than once per week.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who have a medical condition for which the drug semaglutide or exercise is not medically appropriate.
- People who have used a GLP-1 receptor agonist medication (a type of diabetes drug that includes semaglutide) in the past 6 months.
- People who have regularly done aerobic exercise or resistance exercise more than once per week in the past 6 months.
- People who have a neurodegenerative disease (such as dementia) or a psychiatric condition.
- People who have had untreated depression in the past 6 months.
- People who have had a recent vascular event such as a stroke or heart attack in the past 6 months.
- People who have severe peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage, often in the feet or legs), an active foot wound, or severe joint or musculoskeletal disease.
- People who have active or untreated retinopathy (a condition affecting the eyes).
- People who are taking psychotropic medications, except for those taken specifically to treat depression.
