Who may be able to join

Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or of childbearing age who are not willing to use reliable contraception
- People who have a known medical reason they cannot take GLP-1 receptor agonist medications, SGLT2 inhibitors, or finerenone, or who have not been able to tolerate these medications in the past
- People who have type 1 diabetes
- People who have had a serious diabetes complication called diabetic ketoacidosis within the past 6 months
- People whose kidneys are functioning below a certain threshold, specifically an eGFR (a measure of kidney filtering ability) below 30 mL/min/1.73 m²
- People who were hospitalised in the 30 days before screening for a serious heart event such as a heart attack, emergency heart procedure, or heart surgery
- People with poorly controlled high blood pressure, measured as 160 mmHg or higher (top number) and/or 100 mmHg or higher (bottom number) at the time of screening
- People with very low blood pressure (below 90 mmHg top number) or symptoms of low blood pressure, or those the trial doctor considers to be low in fluid volume
- People with a potassium level above 5.0 mmol/L in their blood at the time of screening
- People who are currently taking, or have taken within the past 3 months, a GLP-1 receptor agonist medication or certain other medications that affect a hormone pathway in the kidneys (mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists, such as spironolactone)
- People who are receiving, or clearly need, medications that suppress the immune system (such as prednisone or cyclosporine) for other kidney conditions such as lupus nephritis or glomerulonephritis
- People with a history of recurring urinary tract or genital infections, as assessed by the trial doctor
- People whose life expectancy at the time of screening is less than one year
- People who have a confirmed cancer diagnosis
- People who have participated in another clinical trial within the 3 months before screening
- People whom the trial doctor considers unsuitable for participation for any other reason
