Who may be able to join
- Adults between 45 and 75 years of age (inclusive) at the time of signing the consent form, both male and female.
- People who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease within the past 4 to 10 years (inclusive).
- People who have slowness of movement, plus at least one of the following: muscle stiffness, shaking at rest, or problems with balance and posture.
- People who experience "off" periods — times when their Parkinson's symptoms return or worsen between doses of medication — as recorded in a Parkinson's Motor Diary.
- People who have been on a stable Parkinson's medication routine for at least 4 weeks before the screening visit.
- People whose symptoms respond to levodopa, a common Parkinson's medication.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People with a known history or current signs of medical, genetic, or neurological conditions that might suggest a diagnosis other than typical Parkinson's disease.
- People with a history of, or current, significant blood vessel or heart disease.
- People with a notable level of cognitive impairment (such as significant memory or thinking difficulties), as assessed clinically.
- People with a history of, or current, psychosis or difficulty controlling impulses.
- People with a history of cancer, other than certain treated skin cancers (squamous cell or basal cell carcinoma).
- People with conditions that could make surgery unsafe or unsuitable (confirm with trial site).
- People who cannot have an MRI scan or receive contrast dye used during MRI imaging.
- People who have previously had brain surgery, including procedures such as deep brain stimulation, pallidotomy, focused ultrasound treatment, or other experimental brain procedures.
- People currently on long-term medication that suppresses the immune system.
